The Product

We make cast stone fireplace mantels, hearths, and overmantels. Our surrounds are used for remodeling fireplaces and new construction applications. Cast stone provides the look and feel of carved stone at a significant savings due to the efficiency of the process. Our cast stone surrounds are made at our Baltimore plant with a mix that includes gypsum cement, crushed stone, fiberglass, and mineral oxides for color. The mix is then poured into intricate molds (7-10 for each surround) Cast stone is non-combustible and environmentally-friendly.

The Process

We meet with builders and homeowners on location to jointly decide which surround is best for the situation, take all the relevant measurements, and agree on surround and hearth particulars. All of our surrounds are individually made to order at our manufacturing facility in Baltimore, Md. We deliver and install every surround we make. Hearths and filler pieces are custom cut on location. Surrounds can typically be installed within 3 weeks of design consultation.

The Company

Artistic Surrounds opened in Maryland in June 2005 and has installed over 1000 surrounds in Maryland, Virginia, DC, and Pennsylvania. We have won awards and are featured in over 30 builder model homes. We are active members in the Home Builders Association of Maryland and the Maryland National Capital Building Industry Association and have supported charities through those associations. All of our installers are factory trained craftsman that work directly for the company. Our showroom is open to the public but calling first is recommended.
